Audio Narrator

We rely on many talented and enthusiastic volunteers to produce talking books. Hundreds of books are produced each year for people who are blind or vision impaired. A narrator is an intermediary, the point in a series of production processes at which the printed word becomes a vocalized interpretation of the author’s message. A standard audition is conducted to ascertain suitability. Staff at the Association’s Braille and Talking Book Library provide training, advice and assistance. To ensure the correct vocal interpretation of the author’s message for the enjoyment of the listener. Key Result Area To narrate the text, according to the guidelines and standards, in partnership with the audio monitor. Eligibility Requirement Must undergo the Association’s standard audition and meet the evaluation criteria. Competency Requirements 1. Must have a clear voice, and be able to enunciate and pronounce words correctly. 2. Highly developed literacy skills 3. Good interpersonal skills 4. Must be able to work as a team member Time and Availability Requirements Morning and afternoon studio recording sessions, usually of three hours duration, are conducted Monday to Friday during office hours. You will need to commit to an allocated studio session, once per week, on a regular and ongoing basis.
